san francisco sounds quite lovely

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past two weeks, I honestly have not had anything that's worth sharing. I love this song from Lydia though and I feel it's appropriate especially since San Francisco has been quite lovely the past two days. Hope you enjoy!

frenchie friday

Pig hates baths and pretty much all water

Pig rolls on his back every morning when he wants to cuddle
Pig taking a nap on Andy in the park. He likes to be touching you at all times :)

Pig almost died from Aspiration Pneumonia last year. This is when we first brought him home from the vet.
Pig stretching at the Emergency Vet when he had pneumonia. Frenchie butts are the best!

Pig ready for bed...what else is new?

The bf taking Pig for a walk. They are so cute together :)
Pig trying to avoid his bath haha
Sometimes Pig gets tired in the middle of his walks.

Today's frenchie friday is all about Pig. I was going through some of my old pictures yesterday and found  these gems. Pig is pretty much the best dog in the world and I am so glad he is in my life. I hope you enjoy these pictures of the dog who started it all!

maxi dress inspiration

source

Typically I am not a big fan of maxi dresses because I am short and curvy so it's hard to 1. find a dress that fits in the length and 2. find a dress that doesn't make me look 5 sizes bigger than I am. I have never really thought twice about buying a maxi dress and figured they would quickly go out of style, but I am still seeing them around for this summer.

One of my favorite bloggers, Sasha from Moiology, had this post the other day about pairing a maxi dress with a leather jacket and I LOVE IT. I would have never thought to put something like this together but it totally works and looks so modern and fun. I'm seriously thinking about buying this dress so I can recreate the look myself. Sasha said that she actually created this look off of an Atlantic Pacific post, in the first picture below. I did a little Pinterest search and found the other images which I love as well.

What do you think? Would you rock a maxi dress and leather jacket?

For years I haven't felt like I have had a place to call my own. I think part of the reason is because I've moved almost every year from the time I was 18 until now. I like my apartment but I don't feel comfortable enough to call it my home. In the back of my head I still feel like this is a temporary place and I am not staying much longer...except I probably am. I would love to move out and find my own place but I can't afford to move with the ridiculously high rents in San Francisco.

Even though it's not part of my plan, I want to start appreciating what I have and learn to enjoy my current "home". Part of this is just my mindset but I think purchasing a few small items and redecorating will really help. A lot of my room decor is hand-me-downs which was great when I first moved but I would like to start updating my room to be more of a reflection of who I am.

I'm thinking a lot of white and bright colors with a mix of vintage and modern. I want my room to feel bright and fresh and cozy. I purchased this comforter a while back and I am loving the pieces above.

Do you have any tips on how to make the place your living in feel more like your home?

pig's soft palate surgery

For those of you who follow me on Instagram you have probably heard me talk about how Pig had surgery last week. French Bulldogs are prone to a lot of health problems, one of them being Brachycephalic Syndrome, which basically means they have a lot of breathing problems because of their flat and smooshy faces. Pig had a ton of breathing problems and would snore, easily overheat, have trouble sleeping and about a year ago he almost died from Aspiration Pneumonia. Some Frenchies are worse than others but Pig had it pretty bad.

Here is a video of Pig's breathing before he had the surgery. You have to listen a few seconds to really hear how loud it is.

After the vet and breeder both suggested Pig was a good candidate for the soft palate surgery the bf decided to have it done last week. It was a pretty brutal because they had to remove Pig's tonsils, shorten his palate, and cut his nose to make his nostrils bigger. The first three days were the absolute worst and my boyfriend even brought Pig back to the vet because we were concerned that he wasn't doing well. It's been about a week now and Pig is almost back to his old self - except he can breath much better! This is a video I took 5 days after the surgery.

I asked my boyfriend if he thought it was worth it and he said absolutely, and I have to agree. A few days of pain is worth a long life of being able to breathe. This surgery is becoming pretty commonplace these days and a lot more vets are suggesting that Frenchies have it done. Here are the before and after pictures of Pig's nostrils. You can see that they are a lot bigger now:

If any of you are thinking of getting a French Bulldog know that they are truly the sweetest dogs to own, but they are expensive and require a lot of maintenance. If anyone has questions about the soft palate surgery please feel free to leave a comment and I will make sure to answer all of your questions!

is love enough?

source
My boyfriend and I were talking about a friend of his last night. He is frustrated because this guy has everything but he doesn't seem to care. A wife who loves him, healthy kids, and a good job - but it's not enough.

He doesn't appreciate the good things in his life and constantly does things to compromise keeping them around. I guess he wasn't always this way but it has gotten worse over the years. Though I am not friends with this person it makes me sad that the love in his life wasn't enough.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately, about how you can be so in love with someone but it doesn't mean it's enough to stay together and make it work. I was so in love with my college boyfriend that it took three years to get over him. This was the first person I have ever loved and we were still in love when we decided to end things because of the distance. Was it not meant to be? Or was love just not enough?

For those of you who know me you know I am a big proponent of love. I love love and I believe in it with all my heart. But I'm also sometimes wonder if love is enough to sustain a relationship? If there are things like distance, family issues, or differing opinions that create problems and make it so things don't work out. I don't know the answer because I am still figuring things out myself, but I like to think that love is enough.
